Mrs. Lori Laraia and Mrs. Stacia Bellmer
Welcome to Kindergarten!

Mrs. Lori Laraia
My name is Lori Laraia and I have been teaching Kindergarten at St. John since 1998. We have a unique Kindergarten program. We offer full-day Kindergarten with a half-day option. I teach all the Kindergarten students in the morning. I received my teaching degree from Concordia University in Chicago. I had always known I wanted to be a teacher and have truly found a "home" teaching Kindergarten at St. John. It is a blessing to be able to help young children grow spiritually as well as academically. We have a rich Language Arts program that includes phonics, phonemic awareness activities, writing, individualized reading instruction, and whole group shared reading experiences. It is so exciting to see Kindergarteners become readers and writers during the year. The children learn math concepts through hands-on lessons and center activities. We learn about Jesus' love and forgiveness though Bible stories and Chapel services. Our faith is a part of everything we do, all day long. Our class supports the Christmas Sharing mission throughout the year. Kindergarten students also participate in music, P.E. and art classes with teachers who specialize in those areas. I am inspired by my students and their constant enthusiasm for learning!
Mrs. Stacia Bellmer
My name is Stacia Bellmer and I teach the enrichment portion of our full day program. Our enrichment program consists of reinforcing and extending lessons taught in the morning. We also learn through integrated thematic units incorporating art, science, literature, poetry, and drama. Our enrichment program provides a wonderful opportunity for Kindergarteners to spend their afternoons in an academically stimulating environment. I feel very privileged to be able to share in such unique and exciting learning experiences with the children.
