Well hello there! And Welcome to my teacher page. I am Val Gaede, teacher of our Pre-Kindergarten children and Director of the Preschool. Thirty years ago on July 1, 1979, I arrived on the doorstep of St. John Lutheran Church and School in Wheaton from San Francisco, California to begin my work as a called teacher of young children. My love for our children and this amazing call as the preschool teacher continues to bless me to this day. Working under a Christ-centered atmosphere brings a tremendous sense of joy, peace and yes a love of Christ for us all. It truly is a home away from home!

My work with young children led to me to seek further education, from a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood to a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and I will continue to seek education that benefits our children and classroom. Teachers of young children should never stop learning or growing. It is our joy and desire to learn and bring that knowledge to our children and classroom settings. As they are growing and developing, we are too! At St. John we offer fun units, themes and special events that make our year in pre-kindergarten one that our children will not forget. From apples and pumpkins to camping and butterflies and lots in between, we have a wonderful year.

I also know how very important Kindergarten is for our pre-kindergarten children and during our year together, our children are prepared for this next important educational milestone in their life through language arts (seeing the written word), math, beginning writing, music, large motor experiences, reading (hearing the written words), and so much more…

I invite you to come and visit our Pre-Kindergarten classes at St. John Preschool and see what a wonderful future we can build together in Christ.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old,
he shall not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
